The course "How the Economy Shapes the City" is intended as a conversation about the relationship between the economy and the built environment. How social relations of production and capital accumulation shape most of our choices. We will present a framework to think about this intricate relationship and some of the problems we confront, among others, unemployment, the perennial shortage of affordable housing, and gentrification. The course will be "thought" in two-day sessions, each lasting two hours.
This workshop is 2 weeks: 4/21 & 4/28 from 3pm - 5pm at the Design Gym.
