Having designed and made a public intervention, how do we understand the effects of this intervention on those who experience it? And when we encounter someone else’s intervention, how do we talk about our experience in ways that help its makers keep growing their practice? Close reading describes a way of responding to others’ work that builds on side by side observation and description by a group of committed viewers.
This two-part workshop consists of a hands-on introduction to a practice of close reading, followed by a break and an optional second half of facilitated small group close reading of objects and interventions for those who want a deeper dive.
This workshop will be held on Saturday 09/14 from 1pm-6pm at the Design Gym on 7 Ramsey Street in Upham's Corner.
