Public Kitchen

Public infrastructures shape our everyday lives—from wifi networks, road ways, public parks, to church basements.

From July to October 2024, we built a Public Kitchen to demonstrate what it might be like if our communities could gather in kitchens like public libraries. Many of you came by to eat, cook, share recipes, explore new ways of using spices and ingredients, and new ways of creating community. Now we want to make this public infrastructure last.

This conversation will explore what it takes for infrastructures proposed by residents, artists, and community members to become long-term or permanent parts of our neighborhood landscapes.

What strategies and challenges can we anticipate and play with?

Join us as we collectively explore how we can shift and impact our neighborhoods together.
