“ideas — arrangements — effects” turns 3 with our IAE @3 series!

Ideas are embedded in social arrangements, which in turn produce effects.

With this simple premise, DS4SI’s radically accessible systems design book made a groundbreaking case for arrangements as a rich and overlooked terrain for social justice and world building. With its launch three years ago, “IAE” gave readers the tools to sense, intervene in, and imagine new arrangements, just as Covid and national uprisings against state-sanctioned violence challenged so many longstanding ones.

DS4SI invites the public to look at what the world has taught us about changing arrangements in the tumultuous years since the book came out. With distinguished guests like Regina Smith, Mindy Thompson Fullilove, Marian Urquilla, and Don Chen, we reflect and look forward at the urgent possibilities for creating large and small scale change through collectively re-arranging the social.
